Joe Myer Woods

In March 1955, Joseph Myer of 1009 South Main Street handed the deed to 30 acres of native timberland to Roy P. Rheeling, President of the board of the Princeton Park District. As described in an article in the Bureau County Republican, "The property and premises are to be held by said Princeton Park District, or its successors, for use of the Public, as a forest preserve, in order that future generations may be able to enjoy a stand of native timber, typical of Bureau County, Illinois, and to be kept as close to its natural state as practical. The Preserve shall not permit any hunting or trapping on the premises."

Joe Myer Woods is listed on the State of Illinois Registry as a Nature Preserve
